Terms of use.

The short version

Relay Writers is a collaborative fiction site. Writers take turns adding short chapters to stories they never fully control. You are responsible for what you write. By using the site, you agree to a few simple rules that keep the relay workable for everyone.

Who can join

Adults only — you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You confirm this at signup.

What you write

You retain ownership of the text you contribute, but you grant Relay Writers a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display your chapter as part of the story it belongs to, and to publish the completed story to other contributors and anyone with whom they share the story link.

You agree not to submit: content that infringes anyone's copyright or other rights; sexual content involving anyone who is or appears to be under 18; content that incites violence against real people; content that is defamatory or knowingly false about a real person; spam, phishing, or advertising.

We may remove chapters or end stories that violate these rules. Repeated violations will end your account.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password safe. If you leave a story mid-turn past its forty-eight-hour deadline, the relay auto-forwards to the next writer — this is part of the mechanic, not a bug. You can pause routing anytime in settings.

Disclaimer

Relay Writers is provided as is. Finished stories are published to contributors as soon as the final chapter lands; we don't guarantee stories will complete if too many writers skip or pause. We are not liable for lost work — autosave reduces risk but does not eliminate it.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to verified users at least fourteen days before taking effect.
